When you buy PLR, you will probably either buy them as individual articles to be used as blog posts, or a report. With a PLR report, you can either keep all of the information together, or break it up into blog posts. This lets you get the most out of the PLR you buy, according to what your specific needs are.
If you haven’t done this before, the following information should be helpful when you need to know how to turn a report into blog posts.
Read Through the Report
I personally recommend reading the entire report first, beginning to end. The reason I think this is a good place to start is because it helps you see the flow of the report, and find areas where you might want to break it up. While most people are going to simply break it up based on the different sections (information below), you might find other areas where you think it could be broken up into individual blog posts.
So give it a read-through and make notes of areas where you think you should separate it into blog posts. Read it a few times if that helps.
Separate the Report By Headings
Now for the fun part – separating your report into blog posts! My general advice is simple: separate the report based on each section, which you can find by the headings. For example, in my recent ‘Keto Alcohol 101’ report, the sections are as follows:
How to Choose the Right Low-Carb Alcohol
Alcohol and Mixers to Avoid
Tips For Drinking While on a Keto Diet
Low-Carb Cocktail Recipes
Each section is about 450-500 words, which makes sense that they would each be turned into a blog post. It makes it really easy to do it this way. Plus, as you can see by the headings of these sections, the title is pretty much done for you, you just need to customize it to be unique.
Combine Shorter Sections Into One Blog Post
Not all reports are going to be as simple as making each section its own blog post. So I want to show you an example of one that is a little different, which is my free How to Make a Gift Basket PLR report. This is a 3-page report, but there are 6 sections, which means some of the sections are a little too short to be turned into a blog post.
There are a few things you need to look at with this type of report that lets you know where it can be turned into blog posts
- The Headings
First, take a look at the text document I have included in the Zip file. I have added an image below. This gives you information about the report, including what sections are included. It is a little easier to see the sections this way than scrolling up and down the report.
What I see when I look at this is that at least 2 of the sections could easily be turned into one blog post, which are Arrange the Gifts and Add Filler to the Basket. These are both related to actually making the gift basket, along with the last section Decorate and Wrap the Basket, if it is short enough. The top 3 sections could each be their own blog post, but I think maybe Choose a Theme or Type of Basket could be its own and the Select a Container and Purchase Gifts For Your Basket could be another. But let’s take a look at step 2.
- The Length of Each Section
The second thing you need to do with this type of PLR report is actually see the length of the sections. While blog posts can be longer or shorter, about 400-600 words is average. So what I would do is write down the word count for each section.
To do this, open up the report (the Word version preferably), select one entire section with your mouse, then take a look at the word count.
You will select the entire section before the next one begins:
Then take a look at the word count at the bottom of the screen:
Here are the word counts I got:
Step 1: Choose a Theme or Type of Basket – 343 words
Step 2: Select a Container – 188 words
Step 3: Purchase Gifts For Your Basket – 259 words
Step 4: Arrange the Gifts – 251 words
Step 5: Add Filler to the Basket – 114 words
Step 6: Decorate and Wrap the Basket – 119 words
The first section (Choose a Theme or Type of Basket) is close enough to 400 words that I will use that as its own blog post. I know I need to rewrite some of it anyway, so I will write some extra words in each section and add a conclusion for my own use.
The second and third sections combined are 447 words, so those would be good to put into a single blog post about choosing what to put in your gift basket.
The last three are the shortest sections, and they just so happen to go together. So we’re in luck. We can put those together in a blog post about putting it all together.
Customize and Format the Blog Posts
Now that you know what your blog posts will be, you can set them up and start customizing the content. I recommend keeping the original blog post document as is, then copy/pasting the sections into individual documents for each of your 3 blog posts.
You can read this blog post about how to customize your PLR to be unique. But here are a few things I would do with these:
Come Up With New Titles – Even if one section is being used as one blog post, you still want to put the heading (now your blog title) into your own words. This is the start of making it unique for your own purpose. So for these 3 as examples, these are the blog post titles I would do:
- Select a Unique Gift Basket Theme
- Go Shopping For Your Gift Basket
- Have Fun Putting Together Your Gift Basket
For blog posts, you want to make sure the titles explain what the reader is going to learn, and use keywords whenever possible.
Now for formatting the blog posts. If you were using a typical report where one section is one blog post, it is a little more straightforward. The way I write my PLR reports is that the sections/headings are bolded, which would be the title of your blog post. Then I use italics for the subheadings of each section, which would become your blog post headings.
For these, you need to look at how they are put together to decide where you want your different subheadings to be in the blog post. I am going to show you what I would personally do for the 2nd blog post titled Go Shopping For Your Gift Basket.

As you can see, I started by changing the title of the blog post, then I want to add in my own introduction. I also changed the title of the sections to become subheadings for my blog post. I broke up the first paragraph into 2 smaller ones, since blog posts are easier to follow with smaller sections of text. I also changed how the tips were formatted.
Please note: I did not completely customize this. I am just showing you a reference of how I would format it. You should still rewrite your PLR according to your specifications.
I hope this helps you see how to turn a report into blog posts! Depending on the type of report, the method may be slightly different. However, as you can see, a 3-page report turned into 3 blog posts, even though it had 6 sections originally. Sometimes you just need to figure out what parts of a report would be good as a blog post.
